Traditionally, algae have been used in hatcheries, i.e. for breeding fish. There they serve as food for zooplankton like Rotifer or Artemia, which in turn serve as live food for young fish. Both our Nannochloropsis and our Dunaliella can be used for this purpose.

We, however, find the use of algae in feed formulations for fish in the growout phase even more exciting. Depending on the species of fish, our Nannochloropsis powder can replace fish oil to a 100%. This gives you a plant-based alternative, but one that is extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Carotenes are indispensable in the feed formulations of many fish in order to achieve a strong pigmentation. Our Dunaliella salina contains high amounts of esp. beta-carotenes and is therefore an excellent ingredient for your fish feed.

Omega-3 fatty acids are an important component of feed for livestock and pets. Vegetable oils are often used here to avoid fish oil. However, the omega-3 fatty acids of these vegetable sources only consist of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Our Nannochloropsis algae, on the other hand, provides the much higher quality fatty acid EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). This promotes growth and health of the animals as well as the quality of the fats in the final product.

To prevent vitamin A deficiency in animals, provitamin A (beta-carotene), which is the precursor of vitamin A, must often be added to the feed. No other organism contains as much beta-carotene as the microalgae Dunaliella Salina, which makes it the perfect ingredient to add to your animal feed.

Omega-3 fatty acids are of great importance for the functioning of, among other things, the brain, heart and eyes. The most important representatives are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which are found almost exclusively in marine products. The precursor ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) is found in a number of vegetable oils, but must be laboriously converted into DHA and EPA in the body. This is the reason why nutrition experts recommend the regular consumption of fish. Our Nannochloropsis algae provide high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids in concentrated form – offering the possibility of a fish-free healthy diet!

Vitamin A is important for our vision, skin and mucous membranes and supports iron metabolism and the immune system. The body can produce the vitamin from beta-carotene, which is why it is also called provitamin A. Beta-carotene today is either chemically synthesized or naturally extracted from plants such as carrots or red palm oil. However, with up to 15% beta-carotene, the algae Dunaliella beats all other sources hands down, making it the perfect product!

Since omega-3 fatty acids are extremely healthy for humans, many foods are enriched with them. This is, however, often done with fish oil, which can not only be detrimental to smell and taste, but also must be explicitly noted in the ingredients list as well as the allergen label. Our Omega-3 oil from Nannochloropsis is the plant-based and natural alternative!

Carotenes (E160) or beta-carotene (E160a / C.I. Food Orange 5) are approved as food colorants. They are added to many foods such as butter, margarines, confectionery, dairy products or sodas to achieve the desired color. Our Dunaliella algae provide carotenes (esp. beta-carotene) in extremely high concentrations and are produced in a 100% natural way without any genetic modifications.

Omega-3 fatty acids are relevant for the structure of the upper layers of the skin and improve the complexion. They keep the skin moisturized and, as antioxidants, have an anti-aging effect. However, many customers are reluctant to include fish oil in their skin care – our omega-3 oil from Nannochloropsis algae is therefore the perfect solution.

In addition to its function as a colorant, beta-carotene is also interesting as a functional substance in cosmetics. Due to its antioxidant effect, it increases cell and skin protection. UV protection and anti-aging are thus main applications of provitamin A. Our Dunaliella algae provide natural and high-quality beta-carotene!
